What this template does

The bob filter prank is the TikTok trend where an AI template turns one photo into a video of you cutting your long hair into a sleek, blunt bob with scissors.

What is the Bob Filter Prank trend, and where did it start?

The bob filter is not a camera filter but an AI template. In early August 2026, common edit apps template makers released templates that turn one photo into a short phone video: you lift a pair of scissors, cut your long hair at the jaw, and a sleek bob is left.

Photo requirements for Bob Filter Prank

• Hair below the chin, loose over the shoulders and in view. The cut needs length: with short hair, little changes.
• Face the camera in good light, from the chest up. No sunglasses, no hat and no hair over the face.
• Haircut video: take the photo where you want the video to happen, like your bedroom or your car, with a bit of the place behind you. The video keeps that place and your clothes, which is what makes…
• Bob photo: any clear photo works. Only the hair changes.
• Use your own photo, or a photo of a friend who said yes. Never a child, a celebrity or a stranger.

Troubleshooting Bob Filter Prank

• --- — ---
• Not much changes — Your hair was already short. The cut needs hair below the chin: use a photo with your hair down over the shoulders.
• The bob comes out in another color — The prompts keep your hair color. Use a photo in daylight, where the color looks true.
• You get bangs you do not have — The prompts add bangs only if your photo shows them. Run it again.
